Love and Beauty Maui
More inquiries in a hard market
Love and Beauty Maui is a wedding hair and makeup studio in Kihei, led by Nikki Quinn, one of the best bridal stylists on Maui. I built its new website around real photographs of her work, with search engine optimization (SEO) built in from the start. It went live while the Maui wedding industry was still struggling to recover, and her inquiries grew far faster than the market did.
The homepage. Real brides, photographed by the photographers the studio works with.

From the old site to today
The moments that mattered, and the results that followed.
Inquiries fell with the market in 2024, the year before the new site. After launch they rose past the old level and kept rising. The map moved first, a year earlier, after I reworked the Business Profile.
The wedding hair and makeup business
A boutique studio in Kihei that brides trust with their wedding day.
Love and Beauty Maui is a wedding hair and makeup studio owned by Nikki Quinn, who has spent more than twenty years making brides look and feel like themselves at their best. Her reviews say the same things again and again. She is kind and calm on a busy wedding morning, and her work holds up through wind, humidity, and happy tears.
She and her team work from a boutique salon in Kihei and travel to hotels, vacation rentals, and venues across Maui, styling brides, wedding parties, elopements, vow renewals, and photo shoots. Their specialty is romantic hairstyles with natural or soft glam makeup, and the salon also offers spray tans and blowouts.
The business runs on inquiries from the website. Couples find Love and Beauty through Google, AI search, Nikki's social media, and the wedding directories, look through the work, and send a request through the site. The website's job is to turn all of that attention into inquiries.
The website design project
A new website, launched in one of the hardest stretches the Maui wedding industry has seen.
Her work was stunning. Her old website hid it. A few photographs and a line or two of copy gave couples little reason to reach out and gave Google almost nothing to find. The goal of the redesign was simple, with SEO built in from the start, to show her work the way it deserves, bring more couples to the site through Google and AI search, and turn more of those visitors into inquiries.
The timing could not have been harder. The Lahaina wildfire in August 2023 hit an industry that books a year or more ahead, so the worst of it landed in 2024, the year before the new site. Destination weddings on Maui fell about 39 percent between 2022 and 2024. Inquiries to the old site fell with the market, and 2024 ran 13 percent below 2023. That is the market the new site went into.
- 1show her work the way it deserves
- 2more couples from Google and AI
- 3more visits turned into inquiries
Fewer weddings, and fewer inquiries
The web design and SEO work
Real photographs of real work, a page for every kind of booking, and SEO built in from the first day.
The look started with a pricing guide.
Before the website, I designed the studio's pricing guide. The new site was built to carry the same look, so a couple sees one brand from the first page to the price list.
The site is built around the photographs, and the photographs are real.
I had Nikki collect photos of her own work from the wedding photographers she works with, because couples judge a stylist by how the people in the photos look, and these are real brides who look beautiful. The portfolio page credits every photographer who contributed, with a link to each one's site, so the photographers get the credit and the studio gets to show its work.
The photography also says, without a label, that every couple is welcome.
The structure follows how couples search and book.
Weddings, elopements, photo shoots, and mobile hair and makeup each have a page of their own, written for the person searching for that, and so do hair styling, makeup, the packages, and the Kihei salon. Those pages lead to the inquiry form, so a couple who finds the right page is one step from reaching out.
The SEO went in with the build.
The page titles, the headings, descriptive file names and alt text on the photographs, and FAQ structured data (code that hands Google and AI tools the answers to couples' common questions) were part of the build. A year earlier, in December 2023, I had reworked the studio's Google Business Profile. At launch, I pointed its website link to the new site. A site built this way earns its own visits from Google on top of the ones the directories and social media send.

The market crept back. Inquiries grew far faster.
Inquiries went up and stayed up.
+51%Inquiries a month in 2026, against 2024In 2025, the first full year on the new site, inquiries ran 28 percent above 2024. In 2026, the monthly average is 51 percent above 2024.
She grew while the market stalled.
RecordBusiest month for inquiries, January 2026Destination weddings on Maui fell 39 percent from 2022 to 2024. In 2025 they came back only 8 percent and stayed about a third below 2022. Love and Beauty's inquiries rose 28 percent that year. In 2026, weddings are up 13 percent on 2024, and her inquiries are up 51 percent.
While the industry asked for help, the studio set a record. In 2025 the island's wedding and event association warned that the industry needed immediate help. In January 2026, Love and Beauty had its busiest month on record.
Couples find the studio on Google.
#1On Google Maps in KiheiThe site has drawn more than 3,500 clicks from Google search, and more than 1,300 of them came through the website link on the studio's Google Business Profile. It ranks in the top two on Google for "maui wedding hair and makeup" and "maui hair and makeup artist." On the map, the studio ranks first across South Maui, where it is based.
AI assistants send couples too.
12xAI visits a month versus the old siteChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude all send visitors to the site, and those visits roughly doubled from 2025 to 2026.
The salon gets found too.
The page for spray tans, blowouts, and conditioning treatments is the site's most-clicked page from Google after the homepage.
Wondering what your site could bring in?
Start your project"Since launching the new website, our inquiries have become so much more consistent."
"Before working with Josh, my website felt dated, generic, and didn't reflect the quality of work my team and I were producing. When I first started, I was just a solo artist figuring things out, and I never really had a cohesive brand.
No clear colors, fonts, or overall identity. Josh didn't just redesign my website; he helped me establish an actual brand. He took everything I've built and gave it a professional, beautiful identity that reflects the level of service we provide.
Now I feel so proud and confident every time I share our website! The photography showcases our actual work, captured by talented photographers we collaborate with here on Maui.
We even have a dedicated page giving those photographers credit, which I love because it highlights our relationships within the wedding community. The entire website feels elevated, professional, and inviting, but still captures our relaxed aloha vibe.
Josh really understood how to blend luxury with our down-to-earth personality. The beautiful fonts, layout, and imagery make you want to keep scrolling.
It finally looks and feels like the established, high-end bridal beauty company we've worked so hard to become.
Since launching the new website, our inquiries have become so much more consistent. We're receiving multiple inquiries almost every day, sometimes significantly more. Before, we'd occasionally experience slow periods without many inquiries.
Now, we're regularly hearing from clients who found us through Google searches and Google Maps. We've even had a handful of clients mention finding us through ChatGPT! This has been especially meaningful during a challenging time for the Maui wedding industry.
While other local artists and teams have shared that business has been slower, we've continued to stay consistently busy. I truly believe our stronger online presence has played a big role in that.
Another thing I absolutely appreciate about Josh is how responsive he is. With my previous website designer, I'd sometimes wait weeks just to get a response or have changes made. Josh has literally completed updates for me the same day I've requested them! As a business owner, that kind of service is invaluable.
He also completely transformed our pricing guide to match the website. What was once a pretty basic document now looks beautiful and professional.
Everything feels cohesive, from the moment a bride visits our website to when she receives our pricing information. It all feels like one brand.
If I could tell another small business owner one thing, it would be to get off the fence and invest in a professional website!
There are so many DIY options out there, but there's a huge difference between simply having a website and having one that's strategically designed to attract clients, build trust, and grow your business.
Josh understands not only beautiful design but also SEO and the importance of getting your business found online. That's his area of expertise, and it shows.
I've worked incredibly hard to build my reputation and establish Love & Beauty Maui as a trusted name in our industry. My website finally reflects that. If you're serious about growing your business, hiring Josh is one of the best investments you can make. I couldn't be happier with what he's created for us!"
The business today
The site keeps doing its one job.
The build did the heavy lifting. I host the site, and I design its pricing guides when it needs new ones.
This project shows what a website built well, with SEO in it from the start, can do for a small business on its own.

Looking back
I asked Nikki to gather the best photos from her photographers, because I wanted to build the whole site around stunning brides to show off her amazing work. It took a while, but once the pictures started coming in, I got really excited, because they were incredible. It was like handing a framer a beautiful painting. My job was to show it off, and it already looked great.
Those photos, the SEO plan, and the copy all came together into a site I'm really proud of. The inquiries started climbing right away, and they're still going up.
Seeing the difference the site has made for her business has been the most rewarding part.
Questions about this project
Still have a question?
Ask me directlyWhat did the project include?
It started with a pricing guide, then a new website designed to match it, with search planned in from the start. I also optimized the studio's Google Business Profile once and pointed it to the new site. There was no ad campaign. Since launch, I've hosted the site and designed its pricing guides when the studio needed new ones.
Where do the studio's inquiries come from?
Google, wedding directories, social media, and AI assistants all send couples to the site. The inquiry form asks each couple how they heard about the studio. The growth figures on this page count every inquiry through the website, wherever the couple started.
Can a website make a difference when business is slow?
It did here. Destination weddings on Maui fell by more than a third before the new site launched, and the studio's inquiries rose anyway. A website wins a bigger share of the people who are searching by being easier to find and easier to book.
Do AI tools like ChatGPT really send people to small business websites?
They send people to this one. AI assistants recommend the businesses they can understand. Clear pages, plain answers to common questions, and structured data that describes the business all help, and all three were built into this site from the start.
Why does the Google Business Profile matter so much?
It's the listing that shows up on Google Maps, and for a local business it's often the first thing a customer sees. For this studio, the profile's website link is one of the biggest sources of visits from Google. A profile set up well, pointing to a site built to back it up, keeps sending people long after the work is done.
Can you do this for a business like mine?
The same approach goes into every site I build. That means pages planned around how your customers search, the details search engines read, and a Business Profile that points to the site. I've built websites for contractors, law firms, insurance agencies, and manufacturers, along with hospitality businesses like this one. We settle what yours needs on a short call, and you always know what comes next.
